What is the difference between normal clean and deep clean?

Dr Grace Ho explaining the between normal clean and deep clean.

So a normal clean is the one you get every six months where you come in, we have a look, and we clean off all the food, stains, and calculus stuck to your teeth and on the gums. It's to help keep everything nice and clean, nice and healthy, and to prevent gum infections.

A deep clean is when you have a gum infection and we really need to go underneath the gums to scrape out all the food, calculus, and bacteria that are stuck under the gums so that the gums can heal and keep your teeth and gums nice and healthy.

So a deep clean is when you have a gum infection and we need to fix that infection. So what your teeth are doing in your jaw is they're sitting in the gum and they're surrounded by bone and when you have a gum infection your bone and your gum shrink over time and just like a post in the ground it becomes wobbly over time as everything around it shrinks.

So to stop that we need to clean out all the bacteria that's eating away at your gums and your bone and to help everything get really healthy so your teeth don't become wobbly and

Basically, if you have a gum infection, it's best to get a deep clean to fight that infection and to help your body heal and stop your teeth from getting wobbly and falling out.
