Introduction

What Is Wisdom Teeth Removal?

Wisdom teeth removal is the process of taking out back molars that are causing pain, swelling, or pressure in the mouth. This usually happens when the teeth don’t have enough space to grow properly or become impacted under the gums.

At T32 Dental, we remove problematic wisdom teeth using sedation options to keep you comfortable throughout the procedure.

When Do You Need Wisdom Tooth Removal?

FAQ

FAQs About Wisdom Teeth Removal

Does wisdom tooth extraction hurt?

No, you won’t feel pain during the procedure because the area is fully numbed with anaesthetic. You may feel some pressure, but it should not be painful. After the procedure, mild soreness and swelling are normal and can be managed with pain relief and rest.

How much does wisdom tooth removal cost?

The cost of removing an impacted wisdom tooth depends on its position and whether minor surgery is required. You will receive a clear breakdown of fees during your consultation so you understand what is involved. If you have private health insurance, we can help you review your level of cover.

What can I eat after wisdom tooth removal?

For the first few days, stick to soft foods such as soup, mashed potatoes, yoghurt, smoothies, and ice cream. Avoid hard, crunchy, or chewy foods that could disturb the healing area. Most people return to their normal diet within four to five days, depending on comfort.

How long is the recovery after wisdom tooth removal?

Most people return to work within two to three days. Swelling and discomfort are common during the first few days but are usually manageable with pain relief. Initial healing takes about one to two weeks, although you should start feeling much better within a few days.

Will I be awake during the procedure?

That's up to you. We offer local anesthesia (you're awake but completely numb). However, if you require sedation options (you're in a relaxed, drowsy state or fully asleep), we can refer you to a team of specialists that we work closely with. We'll discuss your options during the consultation and help you decide what's most comfortable for you.
